Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 27, 2025

1. Introduction

ArgosDNS ("we", "our", "us") provides a SaaS platform for real-time DNS monitoring, change detection, and domain infrastructure auditing. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use argosdns.com and the ArgosDNS Chrome Extension, how we use it, and your rights.

We are committed to handling your data with transparency and care. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising or user profiling.

2. What we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to operate the service:

  • Domain names

Domains you submit are stored in our database to enable monitoring, history tracking, and change detection. No personal data is inferred from domain names.

  • DNS records

A, AAAA, MX, NS, CNAME, and TXT records resolved for each monitored domain are stored to power history and change detection. Only changes are persisted — unchanged data is not duplicated.

  • Check logs

Operational metadata (response time, success/failure, timestamp) per DNS check is stored. for monitoring health. No IP addresses or user identifiers are logged.

  • Chrome Extension (local only)

The extension saves the last domain you looked up in localStorage. This data never leaves your device.

3. How we use your data

  • To perform scheduled and on-demand DNS checks for submitted domains.

  • To detect and record DNS changes over time and surface them in the dashboard.

  • To generate security alerts (missing SPF, DMARC, DKIM) for monitored domains.

  • To maintain service availability and diagnose infrastructure issues via operational logs.

We do not use any collected data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or selling to third parties.

4. Data storage and retention

  • Domain records are retained for as long as the domain is active in the system.

  • Check logs are automatically purged after 365 days.

  • Domains that permanently return NXDOMAIN are automatically removed from the system.

5. Third-party services

Google Analytics

Anonymous page-view analytics via Google Tag Manager. No personally identifiable data is sent.

Google DNS

The Chrome Extension resolves DNS queries via Google Public DNS API. Only the queried domain name is transmitted.

Error monitoring

We use an error monitoring service for platform stability. Stack traces and error context are collected — no user data is included.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share domain data or operational data with third parties for commercial purposes. Data may be disclosed if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of ArgosDNS users and infrastructure.

7. Your rights

  • You may request deletion of any domain you have submitted by contacting us.

  • You may export your domain's DNS change history at any time using the CSV export feature.

  • Chrome Extension: clear localStorage via browser settings, or uninstall the extension, to remove all locally stored data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. Changes will be published at argosdns.com/privacy with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
