Privacy Policy
Last updated: 03/05/2025
Introduction
ArgosDNS (“we”, “our”, “us”) provides the ArgosDNS Chrome Extension, a simple tool for performing DNS lookups (A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, and CNAME records).
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
The ArgosDNS Chrome Extension:
- Does not collect or transmit personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or account data.
- Does not track your browsing activity, web history, or personal communications.
- Does not store or process sensitive information such as financial, health, or authentication data.
The extension only:
- Saves the last domain you looked up locally in your browser (
localStorage
). This data never leaves your device. - Sends DNS lookup requests directly to the Google Public DNS-over-HTTPS API (https://dns.google/resolve). This is necessary for retrieving DNS records. These requests include only the domain name you enter or select.
How We Use Information
- The extension uses stored domain data only to auto-fill the last lookup for your convenience.
- DNS queries are sent to the DNS provider you select (currently Google Public DNS) in order to return DNS records.
- No information is sold, shared, or otherwise used for advertising, tracking, or profiling.
Ads and Monetization
- The extension may display an ad banner within the popup interface.
- Ads are confined to the extension popup.
- No ads are injected into other websites.
- Ads may come from affiliate links. Clicking an ad may take you to a third-party site, which will have its own privacy policy.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties. The only external communication is DNS requests sent to Google Public DNS or any configured DNS resolver.
Your Choices
- Clear local storage at any time by clearing browser data.
- Uninstall the extension if you no longer wish to use ArgosDNS.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at https://argosdns.com/privacy with a revised “Last updated” date.
